Due to business growth, we have a rare opportunity for an experienced and exceptional Senior Application Developer to join a well-established team, based in central Bath on a full time permanent basis.

Ideally, you will be a senior full stack software engineer or equivalent who is able to demonstrate a passion in development & projects and will be able to take our vision into reality.


About the role:

Working as an integral part of the digital team, you be capable of producing software to a high standard and be confident in working with stakeholders to establish requirements and scope.

You will also be responsible for collecting requirements, specifying, estimating, designing, coding, modifying and testing code.

Using experience already gained in previous roles, you will be able to hit the ground running and demonstrate your understanding of programming concepts.

Experienced in working with Node.js, microservices, AWS, serverless environments and Angular, your initial focus will be working with the team on Node/AWS backend services.  There will also be the expectation to work on the Angular front end at some point.

An understanding and working knowledge of JavaScript is essential.

This is a forward-thinking and evolving position and therefore we are particularly keen to hear from those who are active on technical social media platforms, who showcase their work through GitHub or who enjoy creating home projects with RPI’s/Arduino’s/ESP32’s etc.

A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science is an advantage, but not essential. Experience of the other technologies we use such as Apollo/GraphQL, Camunda, formio, Typescript is a great bonus.

Due to current circumstances this role will initially be working from home.  Once it is safe to do so there will be an expectation to return to the office at some point in the future through a hybrid working model.


In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have;

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a software engineer.
  • Understands bigger concepts around software development.
  • Significant experience of developing responsive design and mobile web from initial concept stage to delivery.
  • A strong grasp of security principles.
  • Capable of creating wireframes for web layouts.
  • Experienced in writing unit and functional tests with knowledge of behavioural testing.
  • The ability to implement web accessibility standards.
  • Experience of mitigating cross-browser/platform issues.
  • A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science is an advantage, but not essential.
