In 2017, with the support of the Hewlett Foundation, we established a dedicated Research and Development team from across the consortium and our grant portfolio. The team’s vision is to work with grantees to creatively enhance AmplifyChange as a user-centred and supportive fund manager. Between April 2017 and October 2019, we nurtured the creation of grantee-led capacity building resources and a prospective evaluation of how civil society advocacy influences policy change. You can read about this work here.
With renewed funding from Hewlett, we plan to:
- Establish a social network for activists
- Enhance our new amplifychangelearn.org platform
- Develop our capacity to facilitate peer reporting
- Increase knowledge about the availability and accessibility of local funding for SRHR advocates
- Train women-led organisations through African Women’s Development Fund training centre
- Disseminate lessons from AmplifyChange’s research and development
This project will support civil society and the wider SRHR movement to become more accountable and influential, through inclusive and collaborative grant-making. Our goals are to:
- Create more connections between SRHR activists
- Improve activists’ knowledge about successful SRHR advocacy and organizational development
- Learn more about local alternatives sources for funding advocacy
- Promote peer-to-peer accountability between grantees
- Strengthen women-led activists
- Share our growing experience and expertise with a community of grant makers and activists
