Emma is an experienced project and grants manager with a Master’s level Post-Graduate Certificate in Primary Education. She spent two years in Papua New Guinea (PNG) working with the PNG Department of Education to re-write the teacher training curriculum for Primary Literacy and six months in Rwanda, designing a primary teacher resource centre project.
As a Grant Manager for a UK-based INGO, Emma provided technical support to East and Southern Africa-based Country Programmes to design gender-responsive agricultural livelihoods projects and to manage institutional funding through the full grant cycle.
As a Performance and Risk Manager for UK Aid Match, Emma now manages a diverse portfolio of grants implemented by different-sized organisations across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. These cover a range of technical areas including education, health, nutrition and livelihoods. She is responsible for coordinating the technical, financial and operational performance of each grant by supporting grant holders and their implementing partners to monitor and evaluate impact, take an adaptive approach to budget and risk management and strengthen gender and disability-responsive approaches within their programming.
